My Involvement in the One Day All Knights Giving Day Campaign

As Advancement Communications & Events Coordinator at Bishop O’Connell High School, I played a central, hands-on role in the planning, creative direction, communication strategy, and execution of the One Day All Knights (ODAK) giving day campaign. My work blended project management, donor engagement strategy, copywriting, digital communications, and technical administration of the GiveCampus platform.

I was a central force behind the campaign’s creative identity, communication success, donor engagement, and technical execution touching every stage of the campaign:

Planning → Creative → Strategy → Execution → Analysis

1. Creative Direction & Graphic Design

I produced the full suite of branded campaign visuals used across email communications, GiveCampus, and social media:

  • Designed email banners, countdown graphics, video thumbnails, QR cards, and print materials (save the date postcards, posters, signage).

  • Created multiple versions of ODAK email graphics to align with campaign messaging.

  • Uploaded and curated photos, campaign images, and videos for the GiveCampus page to keep the landing site fresh and engaging.

2. Copywriting, Editing & Communication Strategy

Throughout the campaign timeline, I was the primary writer and editor for all donor-facing content:

  • Wrote ODAK announcements, countdowns, day-of, and thank-you emails, including full copy, edits, and final polishing for Advancement leadership.

  • Crafted social media captions and the alumni-specific messaging

  • Produced content for the advocacy toolkit, student volunteer language, and marketing materials spotlighting programs funded by Knight Fund support.

3. GiveCampus Platform Management

Served as the technical lead for the campaign’s GiveCampus backend:

  • Launched the ODAK page on Givecampus, added new designations, and continually updated the layout and visual components based on campaign needs.

  • Uploaded daily videos, thumbnails, new graphics, and donor spotlights to keep the page dynamic throughout the giving day.

  • Managed the administrative backend, including: Adding offline gifts, entering matching and challenge gifts, updated total counts and giving categories, reorganized advocacy groups

4. Campaign Strategy, Planning & Segmentation

I Participated in strategy meetings, providing a debrief of last year’s campaign, analyzing successes, challenges, and new opportunities.

  • Developed ideas for:

    • Alumni segmentation vs. parent community messaging

    • Class-year specific challenges (Parents of ’26, ’27, alumni groups, etc.)

    • Student engagement activities and ways to create campus-wide participation

    • Helped build timelines for videography, student scripts, and social rollout, working closely with Automatic Films and student anchors.

5. Video Production & Media Coordination

My campaign responsibilities extended into content production and coordination through

  • Working with student anchors and reporters to script, film, and produce multiple campaign videos.

  • Communicating with the videography team and provided all needed assets (graphics, photos, scripts) for edits.

  • Scheduling filming sessions, coordinating students, obtaining needed footage, and editing clips used in email pushes and social posts.

6. On-Campus Engagement & Student Volunteer Coordination

I helped foster a culture of participation within the school community:

  • Coordinated student volunteers for QR card distribution, chocolate giveaways, and wristband distribution.

  • Managed on-campus ODAK merchandise and dress-out sales (including daily cash handling and digital logging).

  • Directed the student roles used in videos and social media content.

7. Day-of-Giving Operations & Real-Time Updates

During the giving day itself, I was heavily involved in real-time execution:

  • Posted updates on GiveCampus, social media, and email at scheduled intervals.

  • Added new videos, graphics, and donor updates throughout the day.

  • Monitored donor trends and updated internal staff on needed pushes.

  • Wrote and sent morning, midday, and final campaign emails.

  • Continued updating backend donor data, matching challenge progress, and offline gift entry.
